The God Within information
Hi All,
The God Within is my first attempt at an original CD of music. I hope you like it.
Background
It pretty much began after buying a copy of Med Sound Studio for the PC.
I was a long time user of Med on the Amiga *sigh*
and discovering that it had been ported over to the PC, I HAD to have it.
I had transitioned (never !!!) over from the Amiga *sigh*
several years prior but had quite a large backlog of Med/OctaMed Modules (MMD) I had created on the ......
Amiga *sigh*
Having it on the PC was going to be
AWESOME !!!!
Not least of all was being able to break out of the 8bit sample limitation of the...you know what
(if I keep mentioning it I'm liable to get depressed).
Also I could port my med mods straight into the PC version. - yeah baby !
So I set about doing just that. Brought my meds in and added shine and sheen and..oh I was in 16bit heaven.
I'm sorry everyone, you'll just have to forgive my nostalgia but fellow ex-Amigans will understand
What a creative period it was and I lay thanks firmly at the feet of RBF Software and their Music Editors on
Both Amiga and PC.
Thanks Ray.
Whilst I was creating music like mad on my PC, a local song competition had come up.
I heard about it with less than 2 weeks left to submit an entry. I decided to create a song for the competition from scratch and develop it within a time-frame. It would have a structure to accommodate vocals as well. Like a real song !
Anyway, without saying too much about the song as that info will be in it's own post (like all the songs), I got it completed and had by that stage written quite a few other almost finished songs.
Not a full CD's worth but getting there.
I had a move of house to a place called Roleystone, a lovely semi-rural place. That is the reason for a number of song titles having Roleystone in them. I guess I'm not very imaginative in the song title department.
Equipment Used - Hardware and Software
This is possibly not that accurate as I'm stretching my memory here. I'll get the right info in here eventually.
1 PC - Pentium II 400Mhz
Med Sound Studio 1.0
Cool Edit
AudioMulch
I think that's about all.
Method - How I went from no to go.
First thing is to create tracks in MSS (Med Sound Studio).
I would assign 1 track per instrument and work with up to 12 tracks.
During the song creation process using MSS I may have made some samples (instruments) using AudioMulch and/or Cool Edit.
Once the song is completed in MSS, I export the tracks one by one as a wave and then import them into the
multitrack side of Cool Edit.
Cool Edit is the place of final mix down. Any effects, extra panning, eq'ing etc.. is done here.
Finally cool edit is used to give the mixdown an added *sheen* - if required.
That's it
Cheers
